On this fascinating Visit Chamula & Zinacantan Tour we’ll visit San Juan Chamula and San Lorenzo Zinacantan, two indigenous communities near San Cristobal de las Casas. Rich in tradition and history, the inhabitants of these two Maya villages have preserved for centuries their singular way of life, customs, government, and religious rituals.

We’ll visit the Church of Santo Domingo and learn about the fascinating mix of Mayan-Tzotzil roots and Catholicism that is practiced by the indigenous Maya (photos are not permitted inside the church). After visiting the church, we’ll also visit the local museum which displays typical garments worn by the inhabitants of Chamula. There is also a collection of pictures and artifacts used in the annual carnaval celebrations, as well as an area where you can shop for souvenirs.

Observe first-hand the laborious handmade work of the local women who produce magnificent textile pieces such as 'Huipiles' (ponchos), tablecloths, bedspreads and cushion covers. Book your spot and get ready to experience the rich cultural heritage of Mexico!
