  • Overview

The California Academy of Sciences is a must-see tour during your next visit to San Francisco. This impressive Natural History Museum, located in one of the city's main green lungs, the Golden Gate Park, features an aquarium, a planetarium and a real forest, harmoniously blending the park's natural views with respect for diversity and diversity science, as well as different showrooms that receive a large amount of natural light.

The Aquarium is made up of huge tanks that house sharks, northern California marine species and Philippine coral reefs. A panoramic lift will allow you to walk through and under these tanks. The exhibit halls, with open-air spaces on the roof of the museum, feature exhibits on species evolution in Madagascar and the Galapagos Islands, as well as the effects of climate change in California, as well as a section dedicated to Africa.

The Tropical Forest on the roof of the building has a huge surface almost all covered by native plants represent the hills of San Francisco. Its main function is to refresh the interior of the building and collect rainwater for use in the museum itself. The huge green domes leading out of this green roof belong to the Planetarium.
