This is a spectacle that is very common in the state of Guanajuato, especially in San Miguel de Allende. Every Friday and Saturday, a group of happy-go-lucky students, dressed in period costumes from 17th century Spain, meet in the main plaza, the starting point of this colorful and picturesque tradition. These students form groups called "estudiantinas", which go around the streets doing serenades, singing songs that have some relation to famous local legends. Normally, the "callejoneadas" start at 8:00 p.m. and last approximately an hour and fifteen minutes. If you want to join in, do so.
