Cancun is recognized worldwide as one of the most gorgeous places in Mexico, thanks to its incomparable natural beauty and its warm, hard-working people. Without a doubt, one of its most amazing attractions (not to mention the most important) is its beaches, which have suffered considerable erosion due to winds and constant tides. This is why at the end of 2009, the state and federal government, local municipalities and private investors initiated a recovery project of Cancun's coastline, investing more than $70 million US dollars, whose results are already visibly astounding.
The project's purpose is to restore more than six miles of sand between Punta Cancun and Punta Nizuc. The hard work started on September 4, 2009, and is expected to be completed in February 2010, before the Spring Break vacation season.
Thanks to all this work, our beaches are ready to receive Spring Break and Easter tourists, which is sure to be a very important economic resource for this world-famous tourist destination.
But you don't have to wait until Spring Break, so don't hesitate and start planning your next vacation to the most diverse and beautiful tourist destination in Mexico. The beaches in Cancun have undergone an unbelievable transformation, which translates into wide stretches of stunning white sand beaches that meet with the cool turquoise blue waters of the Caribbean Sea, combined with excellent hotels, modern and fashionable shopping centers, unique restaurants and vibrant nightclubs. Cancun is now $70 million dollars better than ever.
