Nightlife in Curitiba, Brazil: Nigthclubs, Dance clubs & more
Curitiba is known for having the best nightlife among the capital cities of southern Brazil. The downtown area in particular houses some of the most eclectic spaces in the city. The barrio known as Batel, one of the most well-known in the area, is filled with exciting nightclubs, while Largo da Ordem is home to a variety of bars that never seem to go out of style. The most traditional part of the city's nightlife is the thousands of pubs, each with its own unique style or theme featuring the best in blues, jazz and rock music.
Curitiba is also well-known for its Motor Clubs. The passion that the city's inhabitants have for classic and collector motorcycles makes the night scene even more intriguing. Groups of bikers get together every Friday; if there's no programmed event, the most popular gathering spot are the pubs, where bike enthusiasts can talk, enjoy a beer and listen to some of Curitiba's live bands.
Blue Bell Pub
With a great location in the traditional Batel district, this bar stands out mainly thanks to its owner, Eduardo (better known as "Dudu"), a local who has managed to win the hearts of the Curitibans and has become a friend to all the bar's customers. The host spends each night going from table to table, chatting with everyone who walks in the door. This bar has a relaxed ambiance, ideal for conversation. The house specialty is the delicious "panquecas", and here you can listen to great music, including blues, rock and jazz.
Zapata Mexican Bar
Inspired by Emilio Zapata, a Mexican revolutionary hero, this bar is situated inside an old house built in the 1950s, with a capacity for up to 600 people. The bar is distributed throughout seven different areas, each with a unique ambiance, including areas for dancing and two separate bars. Here, you can see unique artwork by Simon Tompson and original Aztec and Mayan sculptures by artist Gilmar Kannak. Zapata is one of Curitiba's most exciting bars.
John Bull Bar
Inspired by traditional London pubs, John Bull is Curitiba's main spot for live rock music. With more than 20 years of experience, this bar has three floors and multiple areas, with decor that says it all: this is the "temple of rock". Look around at the autographed posters and photos lining the walls, along with collectors' items from some of the world's most famous rock bands.
This American-style bar is inspired by the 1960s era. The house is a reproduction of architecture from New York City's SoHo district, and features a large screen playing old videos. The bar has an atmosphere similar to the Mexican-American border, offering a menu with traditional dishes from both countries.
Bar do Alemao
With more than 25 years of experience, Schwarzwald Bar, better known as Bar do Alemao, serves some of the best cuisine in Curitiba. A popular, rustic watering hole for visitors in the Largo da Ordem district, this bar has been recognized by a Brazilian magazine for serving the best "chopp" (draft beer) in the city two years in a row. The menu features delicious traditional German dishes that have gained popularity throughout the region.
This restaurant features a classic American diner style from the 50s and 60s. The walls are adorned with old photos of American cities, Elvis Presley, Marilyn Monroe and the Beatles, along with memorabilia from period movies from that era. You can order delicious burgers and other popular American dishes, along with traditional milkshakes in various flavors.
Bar da Brahma
Bar da Brahma is one of the first bars in Brazil to be situated inside a beer factory, allowing for high-quality drinks. It has a simple yet cozy ambiance and decor, harking back to the bars of the 50s, 60s and 70s. This bar is perfect for those who enjoy calm atmospheres, ideal for getting together to talk with friends.
Taco el Pancho
The owner of this particular bar is passionate about Mexico and has transformed this space into a bar reminiscent of that country. The decor features Mexican style all the way down to the last detail. It's a colorful spot with a cozy ambiance, latin music, nachos and lots of tequila. This bar sets itself apart from the rest by serving a variety of different Mexican beers.
This space is dedicated to Arabian shows, decked out in tapestries, paintings and items from Arabia, Lebanon, Egypt and Morocco. The main theme here is entertainment, and you can enjoy dance performances along with a Middle Eastern menu.
