You can do plenty of shopping in the hundreds of stores and malls in the "Windy City" and its suburbs. Chicago has excellent stores such as Target, T.J. Shopping in the City
The downtown area and the nearby neighborhoods offer the shopper the most exclusive shopping centers in the Midwest of the United States. The famous Magnificent Mile is an area on the Michigan Avenue that goes from the Chicago River to Oak Street - approximately a mile of luxurious stores for the best shopping - that features the Chicago Place Mall, the most prestigious department stores such as Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue, Nordstrom, and Bloomingdale's, as well as quality stores like Crate & Barrel, the Apple Store, the Disney Store, Salvatore Ferragamo, Niketown, Tiffany & Co. and Coach, just to mention a few. On the streets near the Magnificent Mile, there is also Prada, Kate Spade, Ultimo, Nicole Miller and the iconic store, Macy's (formerly Marshall Field's), housed in a building that's more than a hundred years old and considered a historic treasure.
In the city, there are no large shopping malls, except for some very exclusive and expensive shopping areas near downtown. Several neighborhoods have department stores, including one-of-a-kind boutiques. Lakeview, Old Town, Lincoln Park, Bucktown, and Wicker Park are some of the communities with wonderful shops that sell a whole variety of accessories.

Harlem Irving Plaza
is a shopping center located in the suburb of Norridge, northwest of Chicago, approximately 20 minutes from downtown. It is one of the oldest shopping centers in the area. Although it does not have designer stores, it features stores such as Best Buy, Target, and Kohl's, aside from many other shopping alternatives.Schaumburg, 40 minutes from downtown Chicago, has the largest shopping area near Chicago, and includes Woodfield Mall and The Streets of Woodfield, as well as the impressive Ikea store.
