Welcome to Austin Texas

Austin is the state capital of Texas. It is the fourth largest city in the state, and the thirteenth largest in the US. Since its conception this college town has evolved from a governmental and educational city, into a high tech center and a cradle of alternative culture. Nowadays it is also known as the "Live Music Capital of the World", featuring a large number of music venues and hosting plenty of festivals every year.

Downtown Austin

Downtown Austin

Located on the north bank of the Colorado River, Downtown Austin is a great place to take photos and enjoy some of the major city attractions. The legendary 6th Street, an area famous for its restaurants and nightlife, is set in Downtown. Home to the beautiful Texas State Capitol building, the Congress Avenue Historic District is an ideal starting point for a day's sightseeing in downtown Austin.


East Austin

East Austin is home to the arts district, featuring numerous theaters and performing arts studios.


Northwest Austin

Lake Travis

This district houses the northern side of Lake Travis, which offers stunning views, beautiful landscapes, and a host of outdoor activities. In addition to parks and country clubs there are also plenty of theaters, restaurants, and bars in the area, along with large concert arenas.


South Austin

South Congress Avenue

Bordered by Lady Bird Lake, I-35, Ben White Boulevard, and Mopac, this area is very popular with young people. It is the traditional center of Austin's counterculture and features a fun and funky atmosphere. South Congress, or SoCo, as it is often known, is located in South Austin, featuring legendary music venues and great shopping.


University of Texas and The Drag

University of Texas

The University of Texas is one of the most prestigious colleges in the country, and has one of the five largest campuses in the US. It features beautiful grounds and plenty of museums and cultural centers to visit. "The Drag" runs alongside the western boundary of campus and is home to excellent shopping, as well as a wonderful variety of places to eat and drink.
