If you are looking for handicrafts to decorate your house with or a particular utensil, item of clothing or a present for that special someone, you will find all that and more in the state of Veracruz.
A large variety of handicrafts is produced here, which differ depending on the regions and on the indigenous groups that make them. Find textiles, palm leaf items, furniture, everyday-use ceramic products and basketry. In Xalapa, carved wooden pieces abound 
while in Catemaco, basketry has incredibly original designs. In Papantla, carpintery and embroidered textiles are of first class quality as well as the embroidered "huipiles" (traditional dresses from the region) and traditional blouses made of cotton or canvas with multi-colored cotton thread.

Xico, on the other hand, is famous for its delicious "mole" (pronounced "mo-lay", it is a heavily seasoned, thick sauce, normally used to accompany chicken) and for fruit liqueur, which is locally produced.
