At Zihuatanejo’s dock we will take a 12-minutes boat ride to Las Gatas (Cats) Beach. This paradisiacal spot is located in a bay that’s why is home to tranquil and crystal waters as well as there are an array of colorful tropical fish. This is an ideal area for swimming, snorkeling, diving or simply enjoying a day at the beach surrounded by exuberant nature while trying delicious typical food.
A legend says that was the Imperator Tarasco Caltzontzin who called this beach Las Gatas as he built over there a breakwater for protecting its maiden from the cat sharks attacks. This beach is considered one of the most popular at this destination as it is incredibly beautiful, it is surrounded by lush vegetation, picturesque restaurants along the coast, and a landscape that inspires to take a break and why not have fun.
You will have the opportunity of renting your snorkel gear, and at times you can surf at the extreme of the coast but waves are not so big. There’s also a lighthouse that you can optionally visit, and admire the spectacular Ixtapa view.
