Discover the beauty of the Port of Veracruz with this exciting tour that fuses history, culture, natural attractions and colonial buildings. The activity starts in San Juan de Ulua, one of the greatest, most antique forts in the Americas. During its 500 year history, the building has been used for storing goods, as a jail and even as a presidential palace. Currently, it is a museum full of history, taking you back in time!
Optionally, after visiting the fortress, we will head for the Naval History Museum, an extremely interesting place that shows the evolution of navigation in Mexico and the entire world, from Paleolithic times to the modern era. After spending some time admiring documents, models to scale and photographs, we'll take you to the amazing Veracruz Aquarium, the world's eighth most visited aquarium and site of Latin America's largest fish tank, with over three thousand species from both fresh and salt water.
Afterwards, we'll take you to explore the main points of interest in the city's downtown, including the Maritime Customs Building, the old Train Station and the Post Office building. We'll also visit the famous Malecon Drive, a beautiful seaside promenade lined with restaurants, cafes and stores, as well as the colonial Baluarte de Santiago, a military building from the 18th century.
Afterwards, we will visit the Boca del Rio zone, a booming area with modern, first class hotels and services, yet with a deep rooted history and a quaint town-like atmosphere.
