Shopping in Punta Cana, Punta Cana Shopping Malls, Punta Cana Stores|Dominican Republic
A dream vacation to a foreign country would not be complete without a traditional souvenir. Just like the rest of the tourist destinations in the Caribbean islands, Punta Cana also has a good variety of souvenirs to take back home as presents for family, friends, and coworkers. The majority of the souvenirs, sold in the hotels, are the same as the ones you'll find in the small modest stores located on the beaches and streets of the Punta Cana/Bavaro region. Remember that part of the shopping experience in Punta Cana is to bargain in the souvenir stores outside of the hotels. At the vast majority of stores in the area you will find traditional souvenirs of the Dominican Republic, such as the famous Dominican cigars, and the eye catching jewelry made of larimar, a semiprecious blue stone native to the island. There are also amber inlays, colorful paintings depicting beaches and indigenous people made by local artists, as well as beautiful wood carvings, rum or mamjuana bottles, and many other attractive trinkets.
Palma Real Shopping Village
This is perhaps the most exclusive shopping centre in the Bavaro area, located north of Punta Cana. This partially enclosed building has gorgeous Spanish architecture and a beautiful fountain in the center. Some of the businesses here are jewelry stores, gift shops, banks, restaurants, and the only movie theaters in the region.
Plaza Bavaro is another excellent place to go shopping in the Punta Cana/Bavaro region. This shopping mall has a good assortment of stores and other establishments, such as currency exchanges, jewelry stores, pharmacies, and bars.
