Later on it was the residence of Conqueror Hernan Cortez. In this very place was built the first Colonial Government House. Then it became a viceroyalty residence and a weapon house. This structure has been conserved from the colonial time, that's why this building is considered historical monument by the National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH).
