Mexicali is not as outstanding as Tijuana when it comes to wild parties. Nevertheless, you can have a great evening with your family, friends or even by yourself, for its inhabitants (Cachanillas as they like to be called) are nationally famous for their great hospitality. To have fun at night there are lots of cultural displays, indie rock concerts and poetry readings, to be enjoyed in a variety of settings, from offbeat bars, shopping malls (in the parking area, also) and even local breweries (yes, you can have some beer while more beer is being made right before your eyes!).

El Jacalito
A small but pleasant cantina where you can get drinks by the liter such as the "caguama" (a forty-style beer) and the "Chabelota", where heart rendering Spanish 80s music floats out from the juke box, pulling the heart strings of the sad and the woeful, who join chorus with doleful dedication. Definitely an experience that is worth having.
