The Hotel Posada Maria Cristina is located in a beautiful old house built in the 16th century by a Spanish military man, who was one of the troops of Hernan Cortez. It was constructed near the stables in the fields of the Palace of Cortez. The property still features the original thick stone and adobe walls with beams and red tiles. Most interestingly, there are the remains of a tunnel that lead toward the Palace, which Cortez himself might have used to meet with Malinche.
