Mata Ortiz Pottery
Located 21.75 miles south of the town of Paquime, the Juan Mata Ortiz Pottery Center is the most important one of its kind in northern Mexico. They make all sorts of beautiful polychrome pots using ancient techniques rediscovered by the master potter Juan Quezada, whose work is internationally acclaimed. He is a visionary who has taught his family first and then his community how to produce original pieces that have even gained him, as well as some of the other members of the center, recognition and awards by reputable organizations, such as the UNESCO.
