Restaurantes en Chichén Itzá

The grandeur of the Maya culture goes beyond the great structures, the prophecies and the precise calculation of cosmic events; it shines in the quality and the exquisiteness of their cuisine too. Yucatecan dishes are a fortunate result of the fusion of ingredients from many different parts of the world. Cuba, China, some European countries and even the Middle East, have significantly influenced the Yucatan, and as a result delicious dishes famous around the world have been created.

Some ingredients used by the ancient Mayas such as pheasant and venison have been substituted for turkey and pork respectively; some others, like corn, have been used for centuries and remain as basic elements of the Yucatecan cuisine.

If you visit Chichen Itza, it is highly recommended that you try some of the very famous dishes of the region, such as: papadzules, panuchos, sopa de lima, chilmole, pavo en relleno negro, poc-chuc, queso relleno, pescado tikinxic, which are all easily found in the many local restaurants.

PostresDesserts are the perfect way to wrap up the culinary experience. Yucatecan cuisine has a variety of sweets and desserts worth trying, such as "torta de cielo" (almond cake with a hint of cognac), "caballeros pobres" (bread with honey and raisins), "margaritas de almendra" (almond lilies), and papaya sweets.

Mayaland

Mayaland hotel is located very close to the archeological site and has three different dining options for visitors to try the most authentic of Yucatecan dishes. Two enormous palapas and one spacious indoor area are all excellent settings to admire the manicured gardens where peacocks walk around peacefully, and to enjoy the delicious a la carte and buffet services available. You'll even have the chance to try authentic handmade tortillas.

Hotel Chichen Itza

Hotel Chichen Itza offers some of the most representative Yucatecan dishes, as well as refreshing regional drinks. This traditional restaurant has both a buffet and an a la carte menu with a whole host of delicious dishes for you to try. Hotel Chichen Itza is located on the Merida-Cancun road, just a few minutes away from the archeological site.

Villas Arqueologicas Chichen Itza

Club Med Villas Arqueologicas Chichen Itza hotel is a nice restaurant with very Mexican decor and serves a good variety of delicious International, Mexican and regional dishes. There is an indoor dining area and also a terrace, both are great to enjoy your meals.

Ik Kil

Next to "Ik Kil" Cenote (a large freshwater sinkhole), around 2 miles away from the archeological site, there is a restaurant serving a variety of interesting dishes very characteristic of the region. Great service and an exquisite culinary experience are waiting for you at Ik Kil.
