Argovia Finca Resort attracts guests because of the incredible natural beauty of the area, coupled with the breathtaking views from the resort of the surrounding mountains and Pacific Ocean.
The Argovia Coffee Plantation dates back to 1880, when a Swiss family settled in the area and began growing coffee here. In the 19th century, the plantation was sold to Adolf Giesemann and now belongs to the fourth generation of the same family.
Due to a fall in the price of coffee a few decades back, the owners decided to diversify their products and started growing other crops, such as fruit trees and tropical flowers. Later, the plantation opened for tourism offering accommodations, dining options, and leisure activities, as well as ecological activities to help preserve the region’s unique flora and fauna.

Nowadays the Plantation is like a giant nursery with more than 125 species of coffee plants and fruit trees. What makes this hotel so unique is its setting, amidst amazing aromas and colorful exotic flowers. We offer several tours to the different areas of the plantation, as well as to neighboring plantations, where you can see the gorgeous flora and fauna, as well as the various production stages of coffee.
To carry out the different activities in the plantation, we use environmentally friendly techniques such as the treatment of residual waters, recycling of waste and byproducts of coffee through worm composting, organic management methods and limited use of agrochemicals. All the electricity used on the plantation is generated through a hydroelectric plant which has been in use for more than 100 years.
The hotel is a proud honoree of the Rainforest Alliance Certification and has been recognized for its leadership in sustainability and support for conservation work because of its outstanding efforts in the protection of top soil, water resources, and reforestation. |

Argovia Finca Resort is located at the foot of the Sierra Madre in a region of Chiapas called "Soconusco". It's about 40 km away from the city of Tapachula and it will take you about 1 hour and 10 minutes to get to the hotel from the airport.
Tapachula is considered one of the most important destinations in Chiapas because of its many coffee plantations and exuberant tropical vegetation. The city features an excellent public transport system, making it very easy to get around and explore all the local attractions. Tapachula is 1.60 m above sea level, with humid weather year round and it's just 40 km away from the Guatemalan border. |
